Strange runtime errors with WeatherGALE

Many strange runtime errors some users report receiving when running WeatherGALE can be resolved with the following fix.

All current WeatherGALE releases use an internet connection control to gather web pages containing weather data. This is an older technology, and with all the security and other enhancements Microsoft has made to their Windows operating system, errors in their own internet connection control now show up and raise an error on many systems.

The below recommendations may or may not help you resolve your runtime error, but have been found to eliminate the error in the majority of circumstances. Changing these two settings will not harm your system or its operation, or impact your system's security in some way. These two settings are strictly related to debugging operations and have no impact on the safety or security of your computer system.

1. Open the Windows Start menu, then locate the Control Panel menu item. The exact location of the Control Panel item will vary depending on whether you have the user environment set up to behave like Windows XP or Windows Classic, but what you need to do is find and open the Control Panel.
2. Open the Internet Options control panel item.
3. Navigate the tabs along the top of the Internet Properties dialog to reach the Advanced tab.
4. In the Advanced tab, browse the large list of settings and locate the Browsing section.
5. In the Browsing section, ensure that the status of the following two items is ON:
   • Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)-On
   • Disable script debugging (Other)-ON
6. Again, make sure these two items indicate that they're ON, then close the dialog with the OK button.
