WeatherGALE Release History

The release history is sorted from the current release to the first public release.

1.1.16 (December 13, 2005)

  1. [Bug] When the Main Window is displayed, users should find that they can now switch tasks and return to the Main Window. My sincere apologies to all the users this affected; a task property of the Main Window was altered accidentally at some point in time on an earlier release which created this bug; all I can say is this sort of thing sometimes happens and there is no guaranteed way to keep it from happening.

1.1.15 (December 8, 2005)

  1. [Bug] A bug which appeared early on December 8, 2005, caused by the provider of the weather data, should now be resolved. This bug affected proper parsing of the textual forecast and weather advisory data, which created a significant number of errors or problems to cause WeatherGALE to hang or produce no data. I'll need to do some additional work on this issue to prevent anything similar to it from happening in the future, but this current fix should patch the problem well enough until I can provide a better solution.

1.1.14 (December 7, 2005)

  1. [Bug] If WeatherGALE connectivity is disabled and the [OK] button is selected in the Locations Manager, a runtime error 5 should no longer occur.
  2. [New] If WeatherGALE connectivity is disabled when WeatherGALE is launched, the "Disable WeatherGALE" sound event should fire if the event is active. The effect is that the user would hear the "Start WeatherGALE" sound event followed by the "Disable WeatherGALE" sound event, assuming both events are active. The purpose of this feature is to provide an auditory cue at startup when WeatherGALE connectivity is disabled.
  3. [New] If WeatherGALE connectivity is disabled when the [Ok] button is selected in the Locations Manager, the "Disable WeatherGALE" sound event should fire if the event is active. The purpose of this feature is to provide an auditory cue upon returning to the Main Window from the Locations Manager when WeatherGALE connectivity is disabled.
  4. [Bug] No blank city entries should appear in the City list box in the Locations Manager for any subregion.
  5. [Bug] The Locations Manager should now be fully visible on 800 by 600 displays. All users should note the status information available on the bottom line of the Locations Manager window, as various helpful status information is provided depending on what is in focus.
  6. [Bug] The hotkeys should clean up after themselves when an error message is displayed and the application exits. This was only apparent in the development environment - no users reported any problems - nevertheless, it annoyed me and could have caused some issues for some users since the hotkeys weren't properly purging themselves after error message displays.

1.1.8 (October 24, 2005)

  1. [Change] The title bar caption of the Locations Manager window has been changed from "Locations" to "Locations Manager".
  2. [Bug] While the Locations Manager window is being displayed, the cooling fan on systems that monitor processor temperature/activity should no longer run due to any problem created by WeatherGALE.
  3. [Bug] All instances where the locations database files list any variation of "Name Unknown" entries have been deleted.
  4. [Bug] The runtime error 401, seen by any user who lacks a locations file at software startup, should be corrected. My apologies to all the new users who downloaded the 1.1.0 release and were unable to get it to run due to this error.
  5. [Change] The Info window has undergone some minor changes. The read-only edit box is used to show version information and to post messages concerning checking the current status.
  6. [Change] Also in the Info window, while checking current status, all the button controls are disabled; all the button controls will become enabled again as soon as the operation completes, errors or has a timeout.
  7. [Misc] Some old code and references were retired.
  8. [New] An "Uninstall WeatherGALE" shortcut has been added to the Start menu program group. This provides an alternative to using the Add/Remove Programs control panel for the uninstall.
